ROCKWIZ’s first ever regional show, the city and cast were buzzing with excitement as the rock knowledge of those that attended the show was put to the test last night.

The hosts, Julia Zemiro and Brian Nankervis, met with 10 VIP audience members before the show, quizzing them on their music knowledge before heading to the stage.

A fundraiser for The Courier Charity Fund, RocKwiz came to Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat last night to put on a live show for a sell out crowd.

Chairman of The Courier Charity Fund Steve Moneghetti said it was fantastic to have such a prestigious show in Ballarat.

“What a fantastic night to get behind,” he said.

Ms Zemiro told The Courier they had done many regional shows but never in Victoria.

“It’s exciting for us to get out – especially in a big theatre like this. I prefer a big audience compared to our St Kilda show,” she said.

“I’ve been to Ballarat many times to visit friends – it’s great to bring the show here, and especially in such a beautiful theatre.”

Councillor Amy Johnson won the rock quiz during the VIP meet and greet, and had an opportunity to join the 24 audience members who participated in the first half of the show.

Those audience members then had a chance to be in the final four, competing against the four guests.

“I don’t know if it was my rock knowledge that got me through,” Cr Johnson said.

“I said Eskimo Pie instead of Eskimo Joe … and when they asked who said ‘welcome to the jungle’, I said ‘George’.”

Cr Johnson said the event was a special night for Ballarat and it was great for the city to host such an event.

“I’m really excited to get up on stage with them,” she said.

Coach driver Noel Hood drove the cast and crew up from Melbourne earlier in the day.

“They’re the loveliest people I’ve ever met,” he said.
