The most unlikely venue to showcase Ballarat!!!
Got a storage problem ?
Need to transport something in bulk?
Need an alternative housing option?
Need a pop up gallery?
Of course you think… a shipping container !!…
Yes shipping containers are very versatile… but as an art gallery??
In the appropriately named Tin Can Galleries and as part of Ballarat International Foto Biennale’s community program, United Way Ballarat is hosting an unique exhibition of photographs, submitted as part of our Ballarat Through My Eyes Competition.
The Ballarat Through My Eyes / Tin Can Galleries Project will see four shipping containers strategically placed in the Bridge Mall where visitors will have the opportunity to view the 387 photographic submissions and in particular the 24 finalists. The exhibition will be open Monday to Saturday 9 – 5 and Sunday 10 – 3 over the 4 weeks of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (17th August – 15th September).
To launch the exhibition, an invitation only cocktail party will be held in one of the galleries adjacent to Best & Less in the Bridge Mall. The finalists will be announcedSaturday 17th August at 2.00pm when the exhibition is opened for public viewing.
After viewing the photos, visitors will have the opportunity to: bid to purchase one of the 24 prints on display, vote for the people’s choice, or pre-order a 2014 calendar which will include the 12 winning photos and the people’s choice.
