Federation University Run for a Cause virtual event 2021

We were incredibly excited to launch the Federation University Run for a Cause virtual event for 2021. With some sunny weather and a gentle breeze at Victoria Park, conditions were perfect to announce that registrations are now open!

It was fantastic to have Steve Moneghetti their for support, representatives from our sponsors attend plus our superhero and run ambassador, Brayden Guareschi.

With the event being virtual again this year, participants are being invited to run, walk or roll to help reach a target of travelling 50,000 kilometres to raise $50,000. These funds will be used to deliver 1000 Back to School Vouchers to local families facing disadvantage.

The Back to School vouchers program is an initiative of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) and is administered locally by the Ballarat Foundation. These vouchers provide more than just money. They allow struggling families to provide clothing, resources and equipment to their children, having a lasting impact not only on their education but on their social and emotional wellbeing.

Last year, demand for the Back to School vouchers far exceeded supply and this demand is expected to be even greater this year. Ballarat Foundation CEO, Andrew Eales said, “We are raising funds for an extremely worthy cause. We know that so many people in our community have been struggling financially with the impact of COVID-19.  By supplying Back to School Vouchers to families in need, we are able to slightly ease their financial burden, allowing the purchase of uniforms, books and stationery so that no child misses out on their education.”

Superhero Brayden Guareschi works as a primary school teacher when he’s not donning his cape. Brayden says from his own experience, “I have seen some students and families doing it tough and the vouchers are a fantastic opportunity to give the kids an advantage in their education.”

For the third year, Federation University will be the major event sponsor. Heinz Law has also signed on as the event’s official Community Impact Partner which will significantly bolster the funds raised by the event. McGrath Real Estate, another loyal supporter of the event, is also on board as well as new sponsors, Mr Brakes and Showbiz Cinemas.

Be a local hero and help out kids in our community by participating in this year’s Federation University Run for a Cause! you can register by visiting ballaratfoundation.org.
