The Ballarat Foundation’s Run for a Cause has been the largest mass participation fun run/walking event in the region. The impact that COVID-19 has had on our local community has been tough. Need is higher than ever and while we can’t host a mass fun run this November, we can rally together as a community and make a difference.
Run for a Cause Virtual will see you set your own challenge to complete over the month of November.
Create a profile, set you goal, log your distance travelled as you go and most importantly raise funds to help us deliver free books to Ballarat children.
Want to complete the equivalent of a marathon over a month? How about two? Or three? Want to challenge yourself to complete at least 5km per day? It’s up to you. Tailor your goal to what you want to achieve and then get moving!
The Ballarat Imagination Library – a program within Ballarat Reads – provides children in Ballarat with a free book every month from the age of 0 to 5. The books are especially chosen for their age and developmental stage so that when they get to school, books are already a part of their life.
The research is clear: children who have access to books before they get to school are more likely to succeed. Children who cannot access books or who do not develop a love of reading, start the race behind and often never catch up.
The Ballarat Imagination Library has already been able to change the lives of 724 children. The money you raise will help us to provide this program to more children in our community, giving them the best start in life.
Every dollar makes a difference, so this year you can nominate your own registration fee.
