The Melbourne Cup arrive in style at Sovereign Hill yesterday in none other than a horse drawn carriage and three red coats acting as guards. It’s all part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour which visits 39 different locations across 6 different countries.
Ballarat was fortunate enough to host the Tour and it was fitting that the $200,000 18-carot gold cup came to Sovereign Hill.
An new feature of the Melbourne Cup Tour is the National Sweep, with 24 regional destinations being given the opportunity to win a cash prize of $50,000 to put towards a community or charitable organisation. We are incredibly grateful that Sovereign Hill has chosen the Ballarat Foundation to partner with in The National Sweep.
Ballarat Foundation CEO Matt Jenkins, chose a barrier number at random – and the lucky number is 15! So of course we are all cheering for the horse who draws barrier 15 in the 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup.
