You can establish a sub-fund named for a cause, a specific charity, in memoriam or named after a donor or corporate entity*.
The sub-funds operate as management accounts for the purpose of tracking donations and grants attributed to a donor and/or a cause.
All funds are held in perpetuity and pooled for investment purposes utilising the services of premier investment firm JB Were’s dedicated not-for-profit investment support team. A investment policy which ensures ethical and responsible investments is central to our governance of funds held in perpetuity.
Only the income from those investments are distributed to enable positive impact. This means every dollar donated to a sub fund works for the community again and again.
We pride ourselves on providing an opportunity for sub fund holders to actively participate in driving positive community outcomes. You can request to establish a sub-fund by contacting us. We can tailor a solution according to your intended investment, interests and passions.
In 2022, the foundation distributed more than $370,000 in community grants and assistance to the Ballarat region. All donations to sub funds are tax deductible. Our fund options are:
Named Fund
Create a fund in your family name which supports annual grant distributions to needs as identified through the Ballarat Foundation’s Vital Signs report and feedback from local experts. Donations to a Named Fund can be made one-off, annually or as a gift in will. We create an agreement which governs the fund in alignment with your passions and involvement.
Corporate Fund
Create a fund in your business name which supports annual grant distributions in response to a specific community need such as homelessness, food insecurity or mental health. Donations to a Corporate Fund can be made one-off or annually. We create an agreement which governs the fund in alignment with your passions and involvement.
Specific Purpose Fund
Create a fund which supports annual grant distributions in response to a specific community need such as homelessness, food insecurity or mental health. Donations to a Specific Purpose Fund can be made one-off, annually or as a gift in will. We create an agreement which governs the fund in alignment with your passions and involvement.
Donate to an existing fund
The Ballarat Foundation has sub funds which support positive responses to important community issues. Donations can be made to the Feed Ballarat Fund, Housing Support Fund or Ballarat Women’s Fund.
